AD-net technology has invested a lot of time and money in the researches that will lower the costs of FTTH. In order to succeed in large projects, especially in fiber network loss control and loss variation control, installation crew must have previous experience in fiber handling and should spend extra time on troubleshooting and search of errors. AD-net is putting a lot of effort in finding methods and products that will decrease the cost of FTTH construction. The most expensive part of the network is usage of fusion splicing. The solution for this problem is use of new introduced of additional fiber connectors.
Figure 1. is showing an outdoor splitter cabinet, which serves like a distribution area for 200-400 residences. As an alternative, the separated 1 x 4 and 1 x 8 splitters may be installed to serve for the same amount of residents. The outdoor splitter cabinet allows reducing amount of splitters and attached electronics since each of 32 outputs can be served for 32 customers. On the other hand, the fiber jumper flexibility allows adding of new residents on the go.
The design allows to troubleshoot and allocate faults between the splitter and customer, due simple fiber connector access. Another benefit of this design is the ease of splitters replacement.
