Performance Management
Performance management is used in telecommunication system for monitoring and controlling key parameters that are allowing to deliver services of specific QoS to final customers. In FTTP network the functions monitored are:
- loop-back function
- fault supervision
- ONU (ONT) failture
- power switch off
Physical level errors that are monitored:
- bit-rate error
- optical power levels (monitored for OLT and ONT (ONU)
When any of these errors occur the management system is informed and alarm is generated.
Configuration Management
Configuration management is used for monitoring configuration of the network devices and network setup information. Functions that might be used:
- setting optical power levels automatically
- assigning bandwidth requested by a user
- distributing software upgrades to agents
- reconfiguring equipment to isolate faults
All the information is stored in one database which can be accessed anytime to help solving errors and other problems.
Accounting Management
Accounting management is used to measure parameters of users, so they can be regulated and billed for services properly. In addition all the statistics on the network use is collected and network usage quotas are allocated. From this information, the service provider may generate bills or tariffs for the service.
AD-net’s OLT’s have really practical and user friendly EMS managment.
You can not just by clicking on icons easily set such parameters as VLAN’s, enable and disable ONU’s, and more, but also see monitoring information, for example distance in meters till each ONU.
